Today's lesson comes courtesy of Mr.David Garibaldi and the soul powerhouse 'Tower of Power'.
Soul vaccination is without doubt one of the most talked about drum grooves of all time, every player should wrap their head around around this funky beat!!
As seen below the groove is a 1 bar phrase using carefully placed 'accents' and ghost notes to create the flow, great care should be taken to ensure perfect placement and consistent dynamics.
Ghost notes should be no more than a whisper and make accents loud and proud, also note the open hi hats on the 'e' of 3 and the 4.
Take it slow and have patience, I started around 60 BPM and gradually worked upwards from there. the original recording was around 102 BPM.
