Tool fans received some long awaited news after a recent posting on the bands website stated the group are to continue working on new material in 2014, after recently completing a small tour of the US.
The bands last release '10,000 Days' back in 2006 (some 8 years ago now), was received highly by hardcore fans and left them wanting more, entering the Billboard 200 in the US at No.1, selling 564,000 copies in the first week of release. The road to a new release from the band has been a long one, in the last 8 years the band have been relentlessly touring, add to this the busy schedule of front-man Maynard James Keenan's work with Rock band 'A perfect Circle' it is unlikely new material gas been possible. In late 2013, Keenan spoke about the writing process for Tool "I dont write the music, they(my bandmates) write the music, I wait for them to bring music to me. they tend to go back over and over stuff.
Its a long process. For a person like me, it can be a very tedious process".
Tool are naturally a secretive band and like to tease fans from time to time, back in March, guitarist Adam Jones 'Tweeted' to say then new album had been recorded and was due for release the following day!! This turned out to be a joke.
Will 2014 see a new album? it is certainly looking increasingly likely.I think the avid followers certainly deserve one but only time will tell and i've no doubt the coming months will reveal all.
